part of me thinks I have the right to purchase a machine gun without having to do anything other than fill out a 4473 however... right now you can't buy any new machine guns at all unless you get into dealer licensing which is a hassle and even more expensive so never look a gift horse in the mouth; this will return your militia rights back into your own private hands and it does make good sense to be safe about the more dangerous weapons and the greater the rate of fire the more shit can go wrong it's just how shit works
